The Washington State Council Painting Contractors Association (WSC PCA) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the painting industry through Community, Education, and Opportunity.
As the local nexus for networking and community among painting professionals, WSC PCA fosters connections that strengthen businesses, build legacies, and cultivate relationships. We create opportunities for members to share knowledge, tackle industry challenges, and drive continuous improvement.
Our membership includes licensed and bonded contractors, as well as suppliers and manufacturers, united by a commitment to elevate their craft and businesses. We seek to provide hands-on training workshops, scholarships, and a focus on giving back, while equipping our members to thrive in a competitive industry. Position Overview
The Washington State Council Painting Contractors Association (WSC PCA) seeks a visionary independent contractor to serve as Executive Director
to lead and shape the strategic direction of the organization, enhance its reputation within the painting industry, and foster long-term growth and sustainability. The Executive Director will be a thought leader, driving high-level initiatives, advocating for the painting profession, and cultivating key industry relationships. This individual will collaborate closely with the Operations and Member Services Director (OMSD) and the Marketing Director (MD) and will report directly to the Board of Directors. The OMSD and MD will report to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:Visionary Leadership & Strategic Direction
- Lead the development and execution of WSC PCA’s long-term vision, strategic goals, and initiatives.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for growth, partnerships, and advocacy within the painting industry and related sectors.
- Keep the organization at the forefront of industry trends, setting the agenda for innovation and progress.
Industry Advocacy & Relationship Building
- Serve as the public face and spokesperson for WSC PCA, advocating for the organization and the painting profession at the local, state, and national levels.
- Build and nurture relationships with key industry stakeholders, including government agencies, industry leaders, and potential partners.
- Represent the association in negotiations and discussions with contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and policymakers.
Member Engagement & Value Creation
- Focus on developing high-level strategies to enhance member value, ensuring WSC PCA provides unparalleled benefits to its members.
- Oversee the creation and expansion of programs that support the professional development, recognition, and success of members.
- Collaborate with the DOMS to ensure members’ needs are understood and addressed in the association’s offerings.
Collaboration with Operations and Member Services Director & Marketing Director
- Work closely with the Operations and Member Services Director (OMSD) to ensure the organization’s operations, membership engagement, and administrative functions are running smoothly.
- Partner with the Marketing Director (MD) to develop and execute marketing strategies that build the association’s brand, strengthen its presence, and drive member engagement.
- Ensure alignment between strategic priorities and day-to-day activities, with an emphasis on high-level goals rather than operational details.
Financial Sustainability & Fundraising
- Lead fundraising and sponsorship efforts to ensure the financial health of the organization.
- Develop and oversee strategies for diversifying revenue streams, including grants, sponsorships, and membership growth.
- Work with the Board to establish budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure long-term sustainability.
Visionary Programs & Industry Impact
- Foster the development of programs that elevate the industry, such as certifications, scholarships, and educational workshops.
- Champion new initiatives that promote the growth of the painting profession, its practitioners, and the communities they serve.
- Serve as a change agent, working to reshape perceptions of the painting industry and its role in the broader economy.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a leadership role, with a focus on strategic direction and industry advocacy.
- Strong network within the painting or related industries, with established relationships and the ability to connect and influence key stakeholders (preferred).
- Exceptional communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead at a high level, inspire others, and drive organizational change.
- Knowledge of non-profit management is preferred but not required.

This job description serves as a guide and may be adjusted to reflect the evolving needs and priorities of the WSC PCA. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, the Operations and Member Services Director, and the Marketing Director to provide effective leadership and ensure the organization’s success.
Fee for Services: $4,000 monthly
Work Arrangement: This is a part-time, independent contractor (1099), remote position, with an estimated workload of approximately 15 hours per week.
Work Location: Remote, with a preference for candidates based on the west side of Washington State (Seattle area). Occasional travel to Spokane may be required.
